Outdoor living, built right

More shade, more backyard, more time outside

A good outdoor space gets used every week of the year. We build roofed covered patios with real structural framing, attached patio covers that tie into your home, freestanding and attached pergolas, and custom decks in pressure-treated lumber, cedar or composite. Stone columns, stained ceilings, railings and stairs are all part of what we do β€” built to code and built to last.

What we build

Patio covers, pergolas & decks

🏠

Covered patios

Fully roofed patio covers with beams, rafters and a shingled roof β€” including gable-style roofs that add height and an open, finished look over your patio.

πŸ”—

Attached patio covers

Covers built off the back of your house so shade starts right at the door. We plan how the new roof meets your existing roofline and walls.

🌿

Pergolas

Freestanding and attached pergolas β€” open-rafter designs for filtered shade, or flat-roof shade pergolas β€” with optional stone or brick column wraps.

πŸͺ΅

Decks

Custom decks in pressure-treated lumber, cedar or composite, with railings, stairs and built-in benches.

Plan your project

Planning a covered patio or pergola

A few decisions shape the design, the build and the price. It helps to think about these before your estimate β€” we'll walk through each one with you.

πŸ“

Size & layout

Measure the area you want covered and think about what goes under it β€” a dining table, seating, a grill β€” plus room to walk around it.

⛰️

Roof style

A gable roof gives full coverage and a taller ceiling; an attached cover follows your house; an open pergola gives filtered shade instead of full rain cover.

πŸ›οΈ

Posts & columns

Choose stained wood posts or posts wrapped in stone or brick to match your home. Post placement also affects views and how the space flows.

πŸ’§

Drainage & tie-in

A solid roof needs a plan for where rainwater goes and, for attached covers, how it connects to your existing roof and walls.

πŸ’‘

How you'll use it

Ceiling fans, lighting and outlets are easiest to plan up front. Electrical rough-in is handled through a licensed subcontractor.

🧱

The slab

Decide whether your existing patio slab works or needs extending. We coordinate the concrete pad when a new or larger one is needed.

Pricing

What affects the cost of a covered patio

Pergolas and covered patios start from $4,000, and decks start from $3,500. Those are starting points, not quotes β€” every project is priced from its own measurements and choices. The biggest factors are:

βœ“ Overall size and roof height
βœ“ Roof structure β€” gable, attached or open pergola
βœ“ Lumber and finish choices, staining & sealing
βœ“ Stone or brick column wraps
βœ“ Ceiling finish, such as stained tongue-and-groove
βœ“ Concrete β€” using your slab or pouring a new one
βœ“ Electrical for fans, lighting and outlets
βœ“ City permit and HOA requirements

Every estimate is itemized and in writing, so you can see what each choice costs before work begins. Financing is also available through HFS Financial.

FAQ

Covered patio & pergola questions

How much does a covered patio or pergola cost?

Pergolas and covered patios start from $4,000. The final price depends on size, roof style, materials, columns, concrete and electrical work. After we talk through your project, you get a free, itemized written estimate.

What's the difference between a pergola and a covered patio?

A pergola has an open rafter roof that gives filtered shade but lets rain through. A covered patio has a solid, shingled roof that gives full shade and keeps rain off. Many homeowners choose based on whether they want an all-weather space or a shaded garden feature.

Can a patio cover be attached to my house?

Yes. We build attached patio covers and attached pergolas as well as freestanding ones. Whether attached or freestanding is the better fit depends on your roofline, the walls it would connect to and how you want the space to look. We look at this during your estimate.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval?

Many North Texas cities require a building permit for patio covers and some pergolas, and many HOAs require approval before construction. Rules vary by city and neighborhood, so check with your city and HOA early. We're happy to talk through what your project may need during the estimate.

Can you add ceiling fans and lighting?

Yes. Electrical rough-in for fans and lighting is done through a licensed electrical subcontractor. Planning it before the roof goes on keeps wiring clean and hidden.

Do you pour the concrete slab?

If you need a new or extended patio slab, we coordinate the concrete pad as part of the project. If your existing slab works, we can build over it.

Is the work covered by a warranty?

Every job is backed by our 1-year workmanship warranty. If something's off with our work, we make it right.

Which areas do you serve?

We're based in McKinney and build in Frisco, Allen, Plano, Prosper, Celina, Anna, Melissa, Princeton, Fairview, Wylie, Murphy, Sachse, Rowlett, Garland, Richardson, The Colony, Little Elm and Lewisville. If you're nearby but not listed, call or text 214-836-1418 to ask.
